Food and Fiction: Daemon Black Cookies

Lux: Beginnings | Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies

If any of you have read the second novel (Onyx) in the Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, you will definitely remember the cookie scene between Katy and Daemon Black. It is one of my favorite flirty scenes in any novel because it is just so cute! Here’s the excerpt of the infamous “cookie scene” in Onyx that inspired me to make Daemon Black Chocolate Chip Cookies:

“Cookie?” he offered, holding a cookie full of chocolate chips.
Upset tummy or not, there was no way I could refuse that. “Sure.”
His lips tipped up one side and he leaned toward me, his mouth inches from mine. “Come and get it.”
Come and get…? Daemon placed half the cookie between those full, totally kissable lips.
Oh, holy alien babies everywhere…”

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Lux #1)

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

My thoughts

The Lux series is one of my top favorite Sci-Fi series because it’s not a simple story about aliens, like you’d expect. It’s so much more! There’s romance, book blogging, great sarcastic lines, and awesome strong-willed characters. This series is incredibly addictive to read, and once you pick up the first novel, you’ll immediately want the rest of the Lux books. There is never a dull moment in these stories, and Jennifer L. Armentrout never fails to entrap you in her amazing worlds!

Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies

I decided to take a twist on my own and decided to made salted caramel chocolate chip cookies rather than regular chocolate chip cookies that Daemon used to flirt with Katy. I made this cake with my brother recently and these cookies only lasted two days in our house before they were all eaten. This has to be the best batch of chocolate chip cookies that I have ever made because they weren’t burnt or hard and melted in your hands! The saltiness isn’t overpowering and mixes deliciously with the chocolate chips of the cookie. Daemon Black would sure approve of these out of this world cookies!

*Remember to take the cookies out a bit before they get firm so they won’t get burnt*
