A Place in the Sun by R.S. Grey (Review/Blitz)

Rating: ★★★★★

Summary: When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.

Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her troubles away… that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.

After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.

But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.

After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

Genres: New Adult, Romance

My thoughts: I am a big fan of R.S. Grey’s novels, after reading both books in The Summer Games series centered around the 2016 Summer Olympics. Grey creates quirky characters who have hilarious personalities and internal monologues which you will connect with immediately. All her stories are endearing and full of tension, especially A Place in the Sun which swept me off my feet and made me dive into the summery romance between Georgie and Gianluca. I could not get enough of these two characters living in a beautiful Italian village as they both slowly fall into a deep love in a way that completely captured my heart.

I adored this novel, from Georgie’s bubbly personality to Gianluca’s allure; and when the two were together, I couldn’t get enough of their banter and slow burning love. Both of their rocky pasts drove them together in a whirlwind of a romance that isn’t taken too fast or too slow. It is set at the perfect pace to make me root for them in the end and hope for their happily ever after. One thing I also loved about this novel is the prominence of Gianluca and Georgie’s friends that are all funny and supportive throughout the story. Normally NA novels push the friends to the sidelines and forget about them as the romance develops, but these supporting characters played a large role in the plot which was refreshing to see. Just reading about the entire set of characters and their dynamic with one another made me wish I was apart of their friend group that has so much fun in all parts of the story.

This was the perfect contemporary novel that I needed in order to pull myself out of my book slump. Romance stories never fail to grip my attention and make me run through the story in one sitting. And A Place in the Sun was no different. It stole my heart, made me want more of the lovely romance, and had me falling for the beautifully described Italian setting. This is definitely a feel good type of love story with some hard hitting secrets that get revealed. It will make you wish the story was longer in order to continue following Georige and Gianluca on their journey through life.
